Flowers for bees

Wildflowers are essential habitat for bees, but 97% of UK wildflower meadows have disappeared since the 1930s. That's why we also support wildflower meadows through donations to Plantlife.

2012

Our Bee Lovely petition launches.

To support donations, our Bee Lovely range is launched and we introduce the Bee Lovely grant to support initiatives across the U.K

2013

We hand in a 120,000-strong Bee Lovely petition to 10 Downing Street helping secure a continent-wide ban on deadly neonictinoid pesticides.

2014

We hit £50,000 in save the bees donations.

Four charities, including London Beekeeper's Association and Plantlife win grant from Bee Lovely donations

2016

We help London Beekeepers Association to plant 1,000 wildflowers at Mudchute Farm

2017

We launch our deeply nourishing Bee Lovely All Over Balm

2020

£165,000 raised to fund projects by Bees for Development in Ghana, Plantlife and others.

Make a bee house

  1. Find or make an open ended box made of untreated wood, around 20cm deep and any width/height
  2. Drill holes into dry logs or sections of untreated timber, up to 18cm long, ensuring there are no splinters in the holes and that the holes don't reach the other end. Different sized holes will attract different bees – the harebell bee, for example, will use smaller holes
  3. Hang your bee house in a sunny position, on a firm surface such as a sturdy fence
